You've taken me on a journey, learning new things, synchronising ideas, looking at things differently. It takes another way of thinking to shift one's thought to focus differently. You've done that on this journey. I was telling the chair of the organisation that you didn't know me before, but it was an instant connection. The sessions were full of information, making me go away thinking each week. It takes someone with your knowledge, expertise to come and make us see the next page and beyond what we are able to see or think. We are on page 1, but you made us see pages 2, 3, 4 and more, this is how the journey has been unfolding. It’s had a positive impact, helpful both personally for me and for the organisation in every way I can think of. I have learnt a lot. I thought I knew a lot, but this has really made me realise what I did not know. Strategic planning, funding, scoping projects, costings (including overheads which I did not have before, the % structure) helped me on the personal level for Pikes and I am also using this at work (CVS) to support clients we work with. It has brought me a lot of confidence now that I can challenge people more positively and confidently. It helped structuring leadership and I hope we go with that at our AGM in a couple of months. I feel there are not enough words to explain what I have gained. It feels like I have known you for years because of the help and support you've brought to guide us. It’s been from top to bottom. I came into it at the beginning thinking how it is going to work. I was thinking you will say oh what an org. but you didn’t do that, you helped us focus. You striped back; started with the basics and went all the way to the top. Thank you. I have really enjoyed it. It’s been comfortable.
S2B worked with us on bid writing, compliance, change management, accounts and financials, strategic thinking areas, operational areas, structure of organisation. They have helped us to shape and focus the organisation in different areas, understand the cohorts we are working with and how to implement specific projects. S2B has had a massive impact on our organisation to date. Their consultancy has been instrumental in getting us to think forward and think about how we can grow the business into one which sustains itself - sourcing different methods of funding, clear strategic thinking in bids, structuring meetings so that we are productive and strategic, clear budgeting and how to do our accounts, developing a clear financial model, developing a financial template which has allowed us to cost projects successfully. S2B has highlighted the benefit of us creating an Impact report which will allow us to highlight the work we do. Their consultancy has shown us things to consider in relation to who is working operationally, financially and strategically so that we can get the most out of each area of the business and they highlighted numerous opportunities for us that have allowed us to look for further financial opportunities. All of these areas will stand us in great stead going forward.
The whole support was excellent, more valuable than the £5K project delivery grant. Most of our policies have been improved, the trustees report, business plan, financial plan. It has been an excellent journey with you. Thank you very much. Trustees are now empowered and carrying out their roles more efficiently. I now feel more confident in leading the organisation and working alongside the trustees. I feel I have increased in my strategic thinking and will be able to provide effective leadership to the organisation.
As a fledging organisation there were a number of key areas that Castletown Arts lacked experience and know-how. Especially in and around funding. In our first session S2B immediately assessed our knowledge on the areas mentioned above and gave me an in-depth tutorial on bid writing. In the follow up session we dissect an application Castletown Arts had used in a failed bid to highlight and identify the wrong and right practices in bid writing. Th
rstand and improve the potential success rate of our funding. The impact of the consultancy also gave use the ability to not only understand our eligibility for funding resources, but the ability to look at new strategies. For example, we identified Paul Hamlyn Foundation as an ideal funder for our activities. However, our lack of established financial records was an instant hindrance. Through our consultation with S2B we outlined a number of reasons why our application would be stronger if we partnered with another organisation we had previously delivered for. We approached the organisation, who agreed to partner with us and lead the application, sub-contracting to us the deliverance and running of services to the end users. This strategy will allow us to gain the financial record for future bids and create a partnership that will support our growth and expose our activities to our target users.
I just wanted to say a really big and hearty thank you for arranging the consultation with S2B for me. We had our last session yesterday and it was great. I have learned a lot and definitely grown in my role since having S2B’s support. I have been given practical tools which I have been able to put to use in real time, but also gained knowledge to use on a longer-term basis. I have gained confidence as a leader and going forward, I have a clearer vision of some of the more strategic tasks that I need to undertake to help propel my organisation forward. I still have so much work to do and I still have vast amounts to learn, but I am ready for that challenge and really feel that the past 10 weeks (sessions) have been a really important experience in development
